King Grouper (Capitol)

King Grouper, Capitol Piazza
Brand evolution, spatial storytelling, and a new premium dining experience.

Following the success of their first outlet at Shaw Tower, King Grouper returns to us to shape the next chapter in their brand’s story. This time at Capitol Piazza, with a new hotpot concept targeting a mall audience.

More than just scaling up, this next step requires an elevated experience while staying true to the brand’s origins.

Translate Brand Heritage into Spatial Design and Experience

The site presents its own challenges: a long, narrow unit with a dark core and limited frontage. So, we flip the typical layout on its head and turn constraints into character.

Zone 1: The Entrance

The kitchen takes the lead, serving hot bowls with visual theatre framed by zinc roofing, wood shingles, and heritage tiles. A mirrored ceiling mimics the surface of the sea, while a custom column-inspired sign anchors the identity.

Zone 2: Main Dining Area

The space opens into a warm, communal setting. Rattan lighting, wooden textures, and reflective wall panels give the interior a lived-in comfort that supports slow, shared meals. Warm light softens the mood and invites guests to linger.

Zone 3: The Outdoor Deck

At the back, a wave-inspired ceiling and sea mural set the scene for nightfall. Oversized globe lights and deep-toned walls create the feeling of dining on a kelong under the stars.

Sequence the Brand Story, Layer the Spatial Narrative

From the tile-lined entry path to the final seating zone, the experience unfolds as a spatial story of sea-to-table. Every detail is considered. Every texture is intentional. The outcome is a brand and dining experience grounded in heritage and designed for where the brand is headed next.
